Frequently asked questions
1
What makes your equipment different from your competitors?
Our engineers and designers have worked closely with many experienced placer mine operators to develop equipment that is durable, easy to maintain, functional and has the highest recovery rates in the industry. One of our core values is constant improvement and we live and breathe this when developing equipment. At Macon we've utilized the knowledge of hundreds of years of placer mining experience to build a product line that is exceptional and works well for our clients needs. The initial sale is just the beginning of a long term relationship with our clients.
2
What are some of the things that I should be considering when purchasing a new wash plant?
There are many things to consider but some of the main points would be:

- The throughput of the plant and how that meshes with your support equipment you currently have or are looking to purchase.
- What is the best way to feed the plant and whether that is an excavator feed into a pan feeder hopper, excavator feed into a prewash hopper or a loader feed into a grizzly hopper feeder.
- Do you have the volume of water required to run the plant consistently or will you have to recirculate the water.
- Budget for expansion program and longevity of the equipment.
- After sales support including the availability of parts.
-The accessibility to the site and the style of mining you're planning. Will the material be brought to the plant or the plant moved to the material?
-Ask for referrals from clients that are operating the specific equipment you're interested in.
3
Why don’t you claim a certain recovery rate and what are the main factors in a placer operation that affect the gold recovery?
We don't specify a recovery rate because there are so many variables beyond the design of the equipment that can affect this including the consistency of the feed rate, consistent water volume/ cleanliness, maintenance and set up of the plant.

The wash plant design that will greatly affect the recovery rate is the choice of the hopper/ pre-wash style, quality of the wash, screen size, distribution of the slurry onto the sluice runs, riffle and recovery system, water filtration for hydraulic riffles and hours of run time before each cleanup.
4
Does Macon provide commissioning and customer support?
Yes, we fully assemble and dry test all of our machines at our facility and also offer on-site commissioning. We pride ourselves in our 24/7 after sales support and drive to turn each client into a brand champion. Our equipment sales are mostly from referrals past on from our clients.
5
Does Macon provide any financing options?
Yes, we have some options for finance at competitive rates. Being an OEM our clients are eligible for finance and lease options through multiple third party leasing companies. More than 50% of our clients find it beneficial to lease a machine over a 5-7 year term.

What Our Customers Say
We have one of the largest wash plants in the Klondike. It is 30 years old and after seeing the success other miners are have with various Macon wash plants we decided to buy the SD-600 from Macon to replace it.
It was an easy acquisition process with Matt and Jeff answering every question we had quickly and exactly.

The new plant arrived on time and at the price quoted. Jeff and his installation team set the plant up at our location and stayed with us until we were comfortable with the operation.

The SD-600 has exceeded our expectations. It is a heavy duty quality machine. The plant is so efficient in water and electrical usage that we have downsized the pump and generator with very considerable fuel cost savings and still maintained our output.

After installation service has been exceptional. Jeff is in constant contact and readily solved all our issues. We highly recommend Macon and their wash plants.
