Emissions Comparison Between Mobile and Stationary Washplant Concepts in Placer Gold Mining
Macon Industries is pleased to release a case study showcasing how mobile washplant concepts can reduce emissions in placer and alluvial mining operations.Dominion Gold Resources, operating one of the largest washplants in the Klondike partnered with Macon to upgrade their washplant from a stationary to a mobile system in 2022.Macon’s Jeff Turnell visited the site in September to capture the impacts this transition has brought to the operation. In cooperation with the operator Dean Russel, they measured and discussed the benefits related to considerably shortening the haul distance, calculating as 30,900 liters of Diesel fuel and 82 metric tons of CO2 emissions savings.Highly mobile operating concepts lend themselves to relatively shallow alluvial / placer deposits with benefits in carbon emissions, operating costs, tailings management and permitting.
