We are currently seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Financial Controller to join our leadership team and help guide the next phase of our operational and financial evolution.

Summary

The Financial Controller will be responsible for developing and executing a robust system of financial and transactional processes that ensure the accuracy, consistency, and credibility of financial information. This role will provide leadership to a small accounting team and will be instrumental in enhancing our financial reporting infrastructure and preparing for future ERP integration.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Systems & Controls

  • Develop a reliable and scalable transaction and reporting system.
  • Establish and enforce strong internal controls and consistent accounting standards.
  • Identify system gaps and propose effective, practical solutions.
  • Ensure the foundation is in place for a future ERP system implementation.

Financial Reporting

  • Ensure timely, accurate financial and cost reporting for internal stakeholders.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple entities.
  • Present financial performance to management in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Manage external reporting to CRA, auditors, legal counsel, and consultants.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions across the group of companies.
  • Implement and maintain best practices in reconciliations, expense evaluation, cash handling, inventory controls, and transfer pricing.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial cycles.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and support, and develop the accounting and administration team.
  • Manage performance, training, and succession planning for departmental staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, communicative, and results-oriented team culture.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role.
  • Solid exposure to corporate or organizational accounting (not just public practice).
  • Proficient in various accounting software platforms; ERP experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems development, process improvement, and reporting.
  • Experience with consolidation of results across related entities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel and financial presentation.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in high-growth or scale-up environments.
  • Manufacturing or industrial background.
  • Experience supporting or leading ERP system implementation.
