2006–2008

Macon began as Macon Welding, a small team applying its fabrication and design skills to build support equipment for demanding field work. The first custom drilling enclosure brings the drill directly into the build, marking an early step toward purpose-built equipment designed to make field work safer, easier, and more efficient. As manufacturing projects become larger and more complex, the team continues building its reputation in the exploration industry through practical thinking and strong workmanship.

2009–2011

A 7,000 sq. ft. facility at Duke Point gives the company more room to grow, supporting a stronger focus on custom fabrication and larger field-ready builds as market needs shift. Macon Welding becomes Macon Industries, reflecting the company’s growing scope, team, capabilities, and project work. A new opportunity in gold mining equipment led to the development of the first Macon trommel wash plant, expanding the company into equipment for placer and alluvial operations.

2015

3D modelling becomes part of the design process with the company’s first SolidWorks licence. This gives the team a stronger way to plan, refine, and build equipment before it reaches the shop floor.

2016–2019

A request from a miner sparks the first Macon shaker deck wash plant. Within a day, the team is on a plane to see a working system firsthand, bringing the idea back to the shop and turning it into a Macon-built solution. The second shaker deck is later sold to Parker from Gold Rush.

The SD-300 is developed for small-scale testing and sampling work, while Macon also completes its first international wash plant sale, bringing its equipment into a new global market. An additional 3,000 sq. ft. of shop space and new processing equipment, including a press and plasma table, strengthen in-house fabrication capabilities and provide greater control over production details and custom build requirements. Rod handling systems are also added to the company’s offering, helping exploration customers improve safety and efficiency in diamond core drilling operations.

2020

A 60,000 sq. ft. facility gives the company room to take on larger equipment, more complex assemblies, and continued growth. The expanded footprint supports the next stage of Macon’s manufacturing capacity.

2021

A new core drill is developed and TactEx becomes its own company. This creates a clearer path for drilling equipment while Macon continues building its strength in mining systems and support equipment.

2023

Macon acquires a 30,000 sq. ft. turnkey fabrication facility and launches Macon Fabrication as its own custom fabrication company. That same year, bulk wash plant orders begin moving into Africa, reinforcing the company’s ability to build in Canada and support mining operations abroad.

2024

Mineral processing opens the next chapter. Macon expands its research and development into the mineral processing equipment industry while continuing to take on larger, more specialized builds. The same year, the company exports its largest machine to date, an SD-600 sent to Peru with a rare earth magnet system.

2025

A parts location opens in Dawson City to support customers operating in and around the Yukon. Local parts access helps northern miners keep equipment running during critical operating windows.

2026

Construction begins on a new 45,000 sq. ft. facility. As the company reaches more than 100 employees on Vancouver Island, Macon continues investing in the people, space, and capabilities behind its equipment.
