Macon Industries Delivers Tailored Gold Recovery Solutions in South America

Macon Industries, prides itself on being more than just a manufacturer—they’re partners in innovation, problem-solving, and client success. Macon’s recent project in South America showcased this commitment, as they successfully delivered, assembled, and commissioned their SD-600 Wash Plant and GoldRoom-40 (Macomatic-2000) cleanup system for a greenfield gold mining operation.

Supported by their trusted representative, Futura Technologies, this project highlighted Macon’s ability to tackle complex technical challenges, provide cutting-edge equipment, and deliver a seamless client experience—turning a vision into reality.

A Unique Mining Challenge

The South American project posed unique challenges. The client required equipment capable of adapting to both mobile and stationary operations while achieving maximum recovery of fine gold from alluvial gravels with high magnetite content. Frequent cleanup cycles also necessitated a streamlined, efficient process.

To address these demands, Macon Industries mobilized multiple teams, drew on their research and development expertise, and customized their solutions to meet the client’s exact needs. From innovative design to proactive problem-solving, they delivered a solution that exceeded expectations.

SD-600: A Wash Plant Like No Other

At the heart of the operation is the SD-600 Wash Plant, a symbol of ingenuity and operational excellence. Tailored for the client’s specific requirements, the SD-600 boasts an impressive set of features:

  • 6×14 ft Screen Deck: Configured with 1.5” top deck and 0.25” bottom deck media for precise gold recovery.
  • Drag-Chain Feed Hopper: Delivers steady, metered feed directly from an excavator, eliminating the need for a grizzly feeder.
  • 42” x 53 ft Stacker Conveyor: Ensures efficient handling of oversize materials.
  • Advanced Magnetic Systems: Two top-feed neodymium drum magnets (2,500 Gauss) isolate black sands, optimizing gold recovery and separating additional valuable materials.
  • Hydraulic Riffles: Prevent black sand packing in sluice runs, enhancing recovery efficiency.
  • Rubber-Lined Slurry Distribution System: Ensures even flow across wide sluice runs, maintaining consistency.
  • Onboard Power: A 100 kW diesel-electric generator powers the entire system.
  • Safety Features: Hydraulic leveling cylinders, LED lighting for 24-hour operations, and an access platform for screen deck inspections.

Capable of processing 300-450 tons per hour, the SD-600 represents a perfect blend of high throughput, efficiency, and durability. Its compact design delivers exceptional performance while reducing operational costs, making it an industry benchmark.

GoldRoom-40: Revolutionizing Cleanup Operations

The GoldRoom-40 (Macomatic-2000) was designed to transform cleanup efficiency and accuracy. Created as a containerized solution, it integrates seamlessly with the SD-600 and offers rapid on-site setup. Key highlights include:

  • Mobile Feeder Bin: Collects and meters up to 2 tons of concentrate, delivering consistent material flow.
  • Classification Trommel: Separates materials at 18M (1mm) for targeted processing.
  • Dual Recovery Paths: Coarse material is processed through a duplex mechanical jig, while fine material flows to a magnetic separator and shaking table.
  • Smelting Workspace: Includes a front-load furnace, crucibles, molds, and personal protective equipment for safe, efficient gold smelting.
  • Reliable Power and Water Management: Powered by a 30 kW Kubota generator and a 3” Tsurumi water pump.

This system dramatically reduces operator dependency, speeds up cleanup cycles, and ensures consistent recovery of valuable material.

Global Expertise in Action

Delivering the SD-600 and GoldRoom-40 to South America involved more than just manufacturing. From the outset, Macon’s teams worked collaboratively with the client to ensure success:

  • Extensive Preparation: Macon Industries provided the client with tools, spare parts, and the knowledge needed for smooth operations.
  • Seamless Logistics: Managing overseas shipping required precise planning to ensure every component arrived safely and on time.
  • Efficient Commissioning: Within just three weeks, Macon’s team assembled, tested, and commissioned the equipment, turning challenges into opportunities.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Macon’s designers worked closely with the R&D team to incorporate innovative features, including magnets that recover more than just gold and safety enhancements that minimize risks in the field.

This hands-on approach demonstrates Macon’s commitment to efficiency, reliability, and long-term client success.

Sustainability and Responsibility

Macon Industries prioritizes environmentally responsible mining practices. For this project, tailings were managed in lined settling ponds, and water was recirculated using a Macon-built high-volume water pump. These measures ensured zero discharge into nearby rivers, underscoring our dedication to sustainable operations.

Looking Ahead: Innovation at the Core

This project is a testament to Macon’s ability to deliver customized solutions for complex mining challenges. By combining cutting-edge technology, expert logistics, and collaborative problem-solving, Macon creates equipment that not only meets but exceeds the client’s expectations

Macon Industries continues to push the boundaries of innovation in alluvial gold mining and beyond. Whether you’re seeking advanced wash plants, tailored cleanup systems, or expert support for your next project, Macon Industries has the willingness to collaborate and the resources to execute.
